Colbert Announces Bid for the White House

    By Jay Alan | October 18, 2007

colbertforpresident.jpgDuring an interview with Larry King, Steven Colbert jokingly announced that he would run for President, on both the Republican and Democratic tickets.

“I think maybe there’s something I could offer the campaign on a state-by-state basis,” he said. “I would target a state individually…a test run.”

In the interview with King, Colbert also brushed aside suggestions that it was a “cop out” to run in both parties, calling it instead courageous, because, “I could lose twice.”

True to his word, as always, Colbert is actually going to try and do it.

“After nearly 15 minutes of soul-searching, I have heard the call….I am hereby declaring that I will enter the presidential primary in my native South Carolina, running as a favorite son,” Colbert said on his show Tuesday night. “I defy any other candidate to pander more to the people of South Carolina — those beautiful, beautiful people.”

The scary thing is, if he were to get Jon Stewart as his running mate, they would be a serious threat, and might actually get the young people out to vote for a change. They’d have my vote.

Colbert for President! I love the guy and even though he’s wacky and wierd, he’d be better than any of the other candidates.

Damn right. Shame he got shot down by the Dem’s, he’s more honest (and intelligent) than any of their, “real” candidates.
