    Real Life Superheroes?

    By Etta | January 26, 2008

I recently came upon an article, and while I initially passed on putting anything about it on here, after thinking about it and re-reading it, I decided to provide it here with some thoughts.

    Read the article here.

While I’ve previously heard about this phenomenon (the above picture is actually from the first time I heard about this), this article was the best put together piece that I’ve seen, especially taking into account the other internet material provided within it’s expanded web content area (seriously, look at the Google Map, the slide show, the youtube videos, and all the rest-it’s fasinating). While it’s hard to understand the thought process behind these people, the article does it’s best to illuminate it. Personally, as a comic book fan, I honestly do understand the appeal of wanting to do good. On the other hand, I still can’t help but think of “Who wants to be a Superhero?”.

If anyone from the “Reals” community actually reads this, I would be interested in any comments you may have, or anything else you feel like contributing.

Is it just me, or does the guy on the left kind of have the same build and body type as Cory?

OH. MY. GOD. Did I just expose your secret identity?!? Is mild-mannered pizza guy Cory really…the SILVER GENTLEMAN?!? Man, I feel just like Lois Lane in Superman II (wait…that didn’t come out right…).

I noticed that these, “superheroes” really just dress ridiculous when they go volunteer at the soup kitchen. Granted, the fact they volunteer is fantastic, but does dressing like idiots while they do it really constitute super-heroism?

Actually, these people actually do dress in their “uniforms/costumes” more than when they volunteer, actually doing it on patrol, stake-outs, etc-the article actually documents one of the guys doing quite a bit in his, as others probably do as well. Interesting stuff, thats for sure.

And come on, you know I’d never let my secret identity be outed this easily.

Well, I’d happily tell you what I think, if the profile wasn’t set to private. I’m not a big fan of Myspace, so he’s got that going against him already though ;-)

Hi Etta, I’m Superhero from Clearwater FL, the Guy with the Corvette “Supermobile” in the citypages article & just stumbled across this. If you want more info on “Real Superheroes” or “RLSH’s” (WE don’t call ourselves “Reals” we don’t even know who said that) you can contact me, or look up a article I wrote on rationreality.com called “Superhero speaks”

      Thanks
      SH

Hello Etta, I’m the Death’d Head Moth from Virginia. What heroes do differs with each one. some patrol and fight crime, some do charity work, and some do both. feel free to ask any questions.
