The Ettatorial for the Week of 10-08-08
A short and small week this week, as I only purchased two books, and as such, there’s only going to be one pick for the week.
The pick for this week is Secret Six #2. As I stated previously, I was eagerly anticipating this issue. And I’m happy to report, it does not disappoint. Simone does something difficult here, and that’s making a group of villains sympathetic, and likable. The Six differ in their degrees of villainy, from roguish to outright crazy, but all of them are interesting and demand attention from the reader. The other thing SImone does here is provides a healthy dose of black humor, and that mixed with the action and violence make for a great recipe for a book focusing on a group such as this. All that, and the discussion within between Catman and Batman is worth the price of admission alone. A burrito, from the caped crusader? Priceless.
