The Ettatorial for the Week of 10-24-07

A pretty good release week, with quite a few books vying for book of the week.  I managed to narrow it down to two.  The first, Casanova #10, is a great book for those not in the mood for the superhero stuff, but still love intelligent action and adventure (not to mention more pop culture references than even I totally get).  It also manages to put more sex into the story without being gratuitous than I would give credit.  This one is definitely for the indie crowd, or those that are looking for variety in their comic buying habits.  The second, Thunderbolts #117, is just a great example of how Marvel’s Civil War ramifications are working toward good stories, while DC’s Countdown is just slowing things down to a crawl.  Thunderbolts is month in, month out, a great character work, an action piece, and a place to see villains being used the way they should be.  This issue is no different, using a psychiatrist visit to make all these work, and the issue is the better for it.  So there you have it, your picks of the week, so go forth, read, and enjoy.
