The Ettatorial for the Week of 10-31-07

A smaller week of releases for me this week, but it still seemed pretty good.  I still have two picks of the week from just a crop of 5, so something is going right.  The first, Daredevil Annual 1, is a nice done-in-one DD story, with gorgeous art by Leo Fernandez (this man seriously needs an ongoing series!) and a surprising extra writer in the form of scripter, inker/writer Ande Parks.  Good stuff, and without giving anything away, with an obvious potential for using this as a springboard to something else.  The second pick, is 52 Aftermath: The Four Horsemen #3 (grr, I hate long titles).  While I’ve been vocal about my dislike of Countdown (issue 26 from this week could have been used instead of the last 25 issues and saved me all the money I paid for all of them), 52 was a good series, and this spin-off has been decent.  This issue though, rose above decent, and was actually great, especially in it’s character interactions of DC’s big 3.  Good stuff, and easy enough to understand even if you haven’t been following the mini.  So there you have it, your picks of the week, Daredevil Annual #1 and 52 Aftermath; The Four Horsemen #3.

[…] first is Daredevil: Blood of the Tarantula. A nice one-shot follow-up to the Daredevil Annual 2007 (a pick of the week selection as well), the book retains the writers of the annual, and even with the loss of Leo Fernandez as penciller, […]
