A truly great week of releases this week, making it very difficult for me to pick just what was my pick of the week. Instead, I’m going to go with a quick run down of my purchases and let you be the judge.

#1-Finally returned after a hiatus, the book hasn’t missed a beat-a nice jumping on point, and it still has the best letters page in all of comics.

: The Sinners #2-More noir goodness from one of the best books on the market.

#859-The “origin” of Batwoman continues here in an obviously heavily researched issue. Rucka’s depiction of actual military procedure is appreciated, and JH Williams III turns in yet another spectacular artistic masterpiece.

#30-A nice bit of closure on some long running storylines, yet the book never lags and continues to be the book I feel most representative of Marvel’s universe.

#59-A surprising amount of surprise guest stars make this into one of the more enjoyable books this week. Special kudos to Stuart Immonen’s art here, as this book finally has the quality consistent artist it had lacked for quite some time.

#10-Focusing on Ares and Phobos, this issue had a bit less focus on Fury’s mission, and actually was the better for it. A nice change of pace.

#613-Part two of Waid and Azaceta’s opening arc to The Gauntlet focusing on Electro. Good stuff, and Azaceta’s artwork really seems to shine for the character.

Volume 1 Taster’s Choice-Image’s breakout series of the last few years finally gets it’s first trade paperback, and it’s value priced at $9.99. With the buzz on this book not seen since The Walking Dead, and such an original premise (“Tony Chu is a detective with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he’s a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn’t mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. He’s been brought on by the Special Crimes Division of the FDA, the most powerful law enforcement agency on the planet, to investigate their strangest, sickest, and most bizarre cases.”), this black comedy almost got book of the week. Highly recommended.

There you go folks, your books for this week. I’ll see you back here next week, same time, same channel.
