The Ettatorial for the Week of 3-05-08
By Etta | March 8, 2008
A smaller week of releases for me this week, made smaller by the sell out at my shop of Powers. So, with that, only one book earned the book of the week nod.
Casanova #12 is my pick for book of the week. Full of some awesome action (with a nod to GI Joe #21) and some great one liners, the title for the issue says it all-Fuck Shit Up. Yes, its not as cerebral as it sometimes can be, and it doesn’t have near as many pop culture references that I only get half of, but this title is bar none one of the best books being put out. All that, and it’s only $1.99 an issue. Yes, the page count is a bit smaller (16 pages instead of 22) but there are the 4 pages of back matter that are full of personal insight into the book and/or the creative team (especially in this issue, with author Fraction recounting the process of writing while about to have a son). Casanova is just a gem in the monthly grind of releases, especially for those of you tired of the big two and the same old, same old capes and tights.
