The Ettatorial for the Week of 3-26-08
By Etta | March 29, 2008
A really good week of releases this week, made even better by my pick of the week. And to really prove how good it was, and to make a point to certain readers, neither of the two Avenger books released this week made it. Thats not to say they were not good (both were, with New Avengers beating out Mighty), just how great my pick was.
My pick for this week is All-Star Superman #10. While the wait for this issue was immense (say what you will about late books, All-Star Superman is always late, I just expect it), it was truly one of the best issues of any Superman title I’ve read in recent memory, or even ever. While I was actually disappointed with the last few issues, this one more than makes up for it. This issue exemplifies all the positive traits that I expect from a Superman story, with the added bonus of the gorgeous art of Frank Quietly and genius story crafting of Grant Morrison. While All-Star Superman has had one and two part storylines, there still has been the over-arc of the issue of Superman’s impending demise. This issue is the pay-off for that, Superman’s last will and testament. Everything has lead to this, from Luthor’s prison stay and hatred for the man of steel, to Lois’s relationship with Superman, to Professor Quintum genius solutions. Then we get treated to the Bottle City of Kandor and some other Superman staples. It’s truly the infinite potential of the silver age of comics mixed with the mad brilliance of Grant Morrison.
There you have it folks, your pick for this week. Read and enjoy, and we’ll see you back here next week.
