The Ettatorial for the Week of 9-02-09

incognito#6

A very small week of releases for me this week, only two in total.  But, considering both were excellent, I’m satisfied.  And while I feel bad about picking one over the other, I just had to.  So without further ado, here we go.

Your pick this week is Incognito #6.  The final issue of this fantastic mini-series, and it goes out the way it went in-awesome.  Writer Ed Brubaker and artist Sean Phillips have crafted yet another wonderful series in Incognito, proving that Criminal is just one part of their collaborative genius paring.  The issue draws all the loose ends of the series neatly together, while leaving room for the sequel series that was recently announced.  And I for one applaud that announcement, as this mini-series was one of my favorite in recent memory, and anyway I can get more from this creative team is good in my book.  I’m not going to go over the hows and whys I loved this issue, knowing full well that I can’t expect people to come into this series at the end, but I am going to recommend the tradepaperback that will be released collecting the entire series.   Those that enjoy the team’s Criminal title, their old (highly enjoyable and critically acclaimed) Sleeper title,  and those that enjoy the old pulps are seriously encouraged to check this title out.

There you have it folks, your pick for this week.  I’ll see you back here next week, same time, same channel.
