A large week of releases this week, and something weird happened.  After reading all my purchases, I honestly had a problem picking out the best of the week.  Once I picked one out, another issue made the argument that it was just as good, and just as deserving.  That just kept happening, and I just couldn’t pick out my favorite(s).  So instead, I’m just going to give you  a brief run-down of what they are, and let you see for yourselves.

Detective Comics#857-Neck and neck with Secret Six for the best thing DC publishes at the moment, and one of the most beautiful books being made today.

Wednesday Comics #12-Would have been mentioned above as one of the best things DC publishes (not to mention the most beautiful), but sadly this is the last issue of this ground-breaking (and personal favorite)  weekly mini-series.  How will I go on every week without my Kamandi, Deadman, and Flash strips?  DC better do another one of these (as long as Mark Chiarello stays in charge of it).

Brave and the Bold #27-The first of J. Micheal Straczynski and Jesus Saiz run on the title, and it’s nice to see such a well done, done-in-one style issue.  The title hasn’t been this refreshing since the early Waid and Perez days.  It gives me hope for more.

Avengers the Initiative #28-The best Avengers book currently being printed (and considering Marvel’s output at the moment, that’s saying something).  Every month I love this book more and more, and I truly think anyone who loves Marvel and it’s vast library of characters is missing out if they pass up this book.

New Avengers #57-Yeah, I like Avengers the Initiative better, but it’s nice to see this title getting back on it’s feet.  A monthly consistent artist will do that for you.

Amazing Spider-Man #606-Really close for making the book of the week until I kept reading more, this is just a great title.  Joe Kelly makes a great argument why he’s just as good a Spidey writer as Dan Slott, and it’s his trademark funny dialogue that really makes this issue so damn fun.  Pure unadulterated Spider-Man, this is what it’s all about.

Spider-Woman #1-After waiting forever for this title to launch (made even longer by it’s ITunes motion-comic thingy), I was still satisfied.  Bendis and Maleev show how great a team they make even away from Daredevil.  A promising start to a new series.

So there you go folks, your massive amount of picks for the week.  I’ll see you back here next week, same time, same channel.
