Assassin’s Creed Release Date and Achievements, It’s Time to End Secret Achievements
By Jay Alan | October 22, 2007
Ubisoft has finally confirmed a release date of November 14th for Assassin’s Creed. Also, the Xbox 360 Achievement website, Achieve360Points has gotten their hands on a complete achievements list for the game. When is Ubisoft going to realize that I hate Secret Achievements? Really, what is the point, an achievement is something you can point your friends to and say, “look what I did”. If it just says “Secret” they have no idea what I did. It’s like I achieved nothing. Seems pointless to me.

yeah…when you get secret achievements i’m pretty sure it says what you did to get them…

You didn’t read that correctly. Silence is correct, as secret achievements will not show up to others viewing your achievments, instead just saying secret and that you unlocked them. Having them secret is a stupid idea, as I like to see what people get, and to me, if I don’t know what you did, I could care less.

Etta is exactly correct, he understood my point, while annoynomous didn’t. Sorry if I was unclear in my post.
That being said, I can see why Ubisoft Montreal made the achievements that are secret in AC secret. AC has a very interesting, unique story, and the achievements that are secret could, in theory, give away some of that story.
So while I can forgive this one, very rare instance, most of the time there seems to be no reason to “secret” achievements. They don’t revile plot points, they don’t seem to serve any purpose, and that’s when I have a problem with them.
