I Wish It Didn’t Take a $10,000 PC to Play Crysis

I openly admit that, at times, I can be a graphics whore. When I first buy a new game, I often go look at the water, just to see if the developers put any time and effort into it. Sometimes that tells me if a game is even worth playing.

When the new consoles come out, they are very powerful and visually impressive, but the PC catches up quickly and overtakes them again. That is certainly true this time around, just look at Crysis in these screenshots I borrowed from a thread on the NeoGaf forum. That really does look damn near real. I never thought I would say it, but do we really need to see graphics better than this? Could we soon see an end of road in graphical upgrades? I just wish it didn’t take a PC costing $10,000 and up to get the game looking like these images.

That being said, I can’t wait for the next generation of consoles, if they are able to provide imagery like this (and there is no reason why they shouldn’t).
