Netflix Streaming Does Not Include Columbia Pictures on Xbox

If you were planning to stream some Columbia Pictures (who just so happens to be owned by Sony) movies on your Xbox 360 now that you have the NXE, forget-about-it. It seems Netflix could not secure the rights to stream Columbia owned features to the Xbox 360, from Joystiq:

All of the affected titles from our Queue are distributed by Columbia Pictures. Columbia Pictures, of course, is owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, a subsidiary of Microsoft rival Sony. Case closed?

Oddly enough, Sony Picture Entertainment movies are still Xbox-enabled.

Update 2: It appears that the sudden yoinking of Columbia Pictures films from NXE Instant Queue access is a licensing issue with Sony after all.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that it could be Sony getting back at Microsoft for including functionality that the PS3, as of yet, does not have. But the fact is that other Sony films do work on the Xbox 360, so it should be a short time before this little accident get sorted out.
