It has been long known that you will be able to export most of your original Rock Band songs to your hard drive for use in the upcoming Rock Band 2 for a small fee. Now the details are in, as in which songs and for how much. The price is just 400 MS Points and all songs will be transferable but three exceptions:
- Paranoid – Black Sabbath (cover)
- Run to the Hills – Iron Maiden (cover)
- Enter Sandman – Metallica
Losing Paranoid and Run to the Hills doesn’t seem like too big of a loss as they are covers anyway (and I like my arms too much to continue drumming Run to the Hills!). While some may miss Metallica, I really won’t because Lars is a little prick who ruined a good thing for a whole generation and I feel better knowing that none of my $5 will go to him.
All in all, only five bucks to add 55 songs to Rock Band seems like a great deal and I have to applaud Harmonix for making yet another great move. I assume this process will work on the PS3 as well (but not the Wii because..well…the Wii sucks).

I agree, I like Enter Sandman as a song, I even like Metallica as a band. But I still feel a lot better knowing that none of my money goes to that little troll.
I’m sure the real reason lies in the fact that Metallica is Guitar Hero exclusive now (they can have ‘em, I don’t consider them that big of a lose, especially when Rock Band has Dream Theater).
That being said, I also hope there is a way to pick and choose which songs you do transfer. While I would like to transfer most of them, I would like the option to edit out certain ones (Green Grass and High Tides for example).
