German Teen Escapes Prison in a Suitcase

    By Jay Alan | October 30, 2007

Helicopter escapes may be impressive, but if you want proof that Europe’s prisons are to easy to escape from, look no farther than this incident:

A 19-year-old German woman has escaped from prison by hiding in a friend’s suitcase.

The fugitive hid inside the large case when her 17-year-old fellow inmate was released from the youth prison in northwest Germany on Friday, Lower Saxony ministry spokesman Dennis Weilmann said on Monday.

The girl simply walked out of the building with her friend concealed in her luggage, Weilmann said.

“Our staff are going to make sure they inspect big suitcases more carefully in the future,” Weilmann said.

Prison guard: “Hey, do you think we should check that chicks luggage? She came to prison with nothing and is leaving with a 100lb suitcase, seems odd, doesn’t it?”

Guard two: “Dude, I make 5 euros an hour, I ain’t chasing down no helicopters, and I sure as hell ain’t checking that chicks bag. There might be tampons and stuff in there. Eww.”
