Canon Just Earned A Customer for Life

Last summer, when I was preparing to go on vacation, I turned on my Canon SD 100, a trusty digital I bought way back in 2003, only to find that the CCD was failing. A quick call to Canon and they said it would be repaired free of charge, even though the warranty was long expired, due to faulty Sony produced CCD’s getting moisture in them and causing the problem. I sent it off to them way back in August and never heard back. Being the organized person I am I had long lost my confirmation numbers and figured my camera was lost. It was terrible timing, I had to buy a new camera for my vacation, as it wouldn’t be fixed in time. But because I bought a new camera I pretty much forgot about it.

Fast forward to this week and I receive an email from Canon saying they need my correct address to send me my camera. Wow, I was shocked, I was getting my old camera back after all this time? That was a pleasant surprise. After another quick call (amazingly, I wasn’t even put on hold and I spoke to someone from the United States), I gave them my correct address and the woman on the phone said they would send me out my new camera via FedEx this afternoon. New camera, I thought, wait, what? She then explained that since my SD 100 was so old parts where no longer readily available for the camera, so instead they were sending me a brand new SD 630 for my trouble. Wow.

That’s some of the honest to god best customer service I have ever experienced. My old, out of warranty camera gets replaced, with absolutely no cost to me, with a brand new far superior model. I wish more companies treated a customer this way, Canon has certainly earned my return business when I look for a new camera.

I can relate about Canon! They are the best at customer support for their industry!

I bought my daughter a Canon digital camera and she absolutely loved it. For months she took pics of friends and family. Later, she asked a friend to hold the camera for her at a football game and the friend stuffed it in her back pocket. Needless to say the friend sat on the camera and seriously cracked the LCD viewfinder!

I called Canon and they sent a package to wrap the camera in (with postage included)!! I sent it off and the repaired camera came back in 6 (SIX) days!!!

NO CHARGE FOR THE NEW LCD!!!!!!!

      Thank you Canon!

      Steve

See, that’s what I’m talking about. Thanks for your story Steve! It’s nice to finally see a company stand behind their products, no matter what.

So let’s here some more stories!

WOW!!! I wish I’d known that. I had the pins where the cf card went into the camera bend and it wouldn’t accept the card, making y $900 camera a brick. I had purchased an extended warranty and they were refusing to fix it. Had I know Canon would more than likely fix the camera that was less than a year old, it would have saved me a lot of calls, e-mails and hell raising to get it fixed. BTW, the place I bought is no longer in business….I wonder why.

Canon is the only brand of camera I will buy. I love their customer service, and their products. I own multiple Canon’s including the Powershot S5 IS and have had little to know trouble with any of them

TKTT1, that sounds ridiculous, you really should have contacted Canon, less than a year old and they most likely would have covered it. Was the extended warranty you mentioned a store bought one?

Also I want to say thanks to everyone who gave me a thumbs up on StumbleUpon, I truly appreciated it, you made my day!

Hmm, I wish that I’d have known that after Sonya’s broke. Her dreaded E18 error had stories about Canon not fixing it, but after hearing all this, I bet Canon would have been cool enough to fix it.

I still can’t use my Canon products on Linux. I like Canon, but can’t afford both Canon and Microsoft. Help!

I recently had a problem with a Canon camera that I had bought a good four years ago. I contacted their customer service and they took care of it promptly and politely. The camera was fixed with no charge to me and no questions asked. I was honestly amazed. I have never had a more positive experience with customer service in my life. I highly recommend Canon products to anyone. They take care of their customers.
