Thank You, Netflix, For Sending Me A DVD and Keeping My Dollar
I recently received the J. Michael Stryzinski written film, The Changeling on DVD from Netflix. As great as that is, since it’s the movie I ordered, a DVD was not the format I had requested. I had requested a Blu-ray, because I have a Blu-ray player. I was quite willing to pay Netflix the hefty sum of $1 per month to insure that the moving pictures I choose, if available on said format, are sent to me on said format.
The Changeling is a story about a mother reunited with a boy who is not her lost son, a tragic mistake. Perhaps a clever employee at my local Netflix shipping center saw the irony, I knew immediately that this was not my Blu-ray. Unfortunately Netflix continues to disappoint, but like a Junkie who knows his coke is lined with flour, I continue to return as a customer. I don’t know who I’m more disappointed in, Netflix, or myself.

God, I couldn’t agree with you more. Even though they never, EVER have new titles in stock (they’re always on “Long Wait”), I continue to use Netflix’s service. Just today, as a matter of fact, I had a movie at the top of my que that was listed as “ready”. Instead, it skipped over my top choice and went to the movie I had at the #2 spot…for no reason at all! The movie I had at #1 still shows as “Available”, so it should have shipped me that DVD. I’m so sick of Netflix. Even if you try to call their “customer care” line, they just give you some spiel about trying to get your movies back in time for new releases. Ridiculous. Shame on you, Netflix.
It’s got bad when xbox added the netflix add-in, I never had any problems before that. I’ve had pinapple express on my list before it was even released in theaters, yet I still wait for it to be delivered, and it’s still marked as long wait. Why isn’t there a waiting line for movies, I should have been near the front!! So I’ve resorted to drastic measures… I took a screen shot of my queue, then removed every movie except pinapple express, so I should be first in line for every copy that comes back right?? I’ll let you know how this works out
If I don’t get a movie for an entire month, I’m going after a refund, what good is netflix too me if I have to go to blockbuster, or ppv to watch the movies I’d like to see? I never had to wait longer than 2-3 weeks for a very long wait dvd before the xbox plug-in, netflix needs to ramp up the number of copies it buys and rents out.
UPDATE!!! I just got an e-mail from netflix saying they are increasing the Blu-Ray access to $3 a month!!! Man, that may just be it for me. It’s too much to deal with them anymore.
I received the same email today, Blu-ray access on my one disc at a time rental will increase to $2, due to the rapidly expanding Blu-ray market. I’m sorry. This kind of logic makes no sense. I am still only getting 1 disc at a time, Netflix does not have to buy any more discs to satisfy my demand. I will be canceling the Blu-ray part of my subscription at least, if not looking into alternatives entirely (Blockbuster).
