Blu-ray Disc Demonstration

Here’s my take on those Blu-ray disc demonstrations that play before most DVD’s and Blu-ray’s today. I also took this as an opportunity to poke a little fun at NBC and their current late night mess. This one’s for 18 and over. Wait for nap time.

Warner’s DVD2Blu Trade-in Program

While I appreciated Warner’s Red2Blu trade-in program (send them the sleeves to your old HD-DVDs, you keep the movie, and for $5 they send you a Blu-ray), their new DVD2Blu program just doesn’t seem like as good of a deal. First of all, they charge $7.95-$9.95 for your replacement and secondly, you have to send [...]

Netflix Not a “NEW” DVD Rental Company…

I’ve been a Netflix user almost from the very start. My account is about six or seven years old now (with some brief pauses in service) and I’m here to tell you that I’m about done with it all.

For some time, it’s been my understanding with Netflix that if I want to get a new relase movie on DVD or Blu-Ray, I need to strategically send the current disc I have back to the warehouse to coincide with the date of the new release. Usually if I send the movie in on a Saturday, they’ll get it by Monday and send me the new movie that is scheduled to release the next day on Tuesday. However, for well over 2 months now I have habitually been sending old, unwatched titles they’ve sent me back on these days (just like I always used to) only to get a movie that was number 5 or 6 down on my Que instead of the new release I wanted.

Watchmen Maximum Movie Mode Finally Makes Blu-ray Worth While

Pretty much all of us here at Project Silence-while we do own Blu-ray players-have been complaining for a while that Blu-ray’s potential just hasn’t been reached, not by a long shot. Well it looks like Zac Snyder is doing for Blu-ray what he did for Comic movies, make it bad ass. The upcoming Watchmen Blu-ray [...]

Thank You, Netflix, For Sending Me A DVD and Keeping My Dollar

I recently received the J. Michael Stryzinski written film, The Changeling on DVD from Netflix. As great as that is, since it’s the movie I ordered, a DVD was not the format I had requested. I had requested a Blu-ray, because I have a Blu-ray player. I was quite willing to pay Netflix the hefty [...]

Netflix Continues to Step Backwards and Forwards at the Same Time

I don’t know what it is about Netflix. They’re a company I love and hate at the same time. I won’t get into it to much here (Jason and I have talked plenty about it on the Podcast), but they seem to do so many things right and at the same time screw up just [...]
