    Todays Links

    Friday, January 11th, 2008

Here’s a list of some interesting things around the web that I don’t have the time (or the cleverness) to write about more clearly:
Shuttles $199 Linux PC specifications, this thing actually looks cool, not that it would get me to use Linux.
50 Great Arcade cabinets. I really miss arcades.
Vast Cloud of Antimatter traced to Binary [...]

    Bill Gates Admits Vista Sucks

    Thursday, January 10th, 2008

In a candid interview with Gizmodo, Bill Gates pretty much owns up to the fact that Vista was rushed and unfinished. I guess now that his time is up at Microsoft, he’s more open about the company’s shortcomings.

WB Goes Blu-ray Exclusive: What Does It Really Mean?

    Saturday, January 5th, 2008

When WB announced yesterday that they have officially drank the Blu-ray Kool-Aid and dumped HD-DVD support, it was a shock to the 3% of the market that has bought into the format war. Initial reaction consisted almost completely of, “HD-DVD is teh d00med, lol, lol”. WB claims no money changed hands, but rumors say anything [...]

Cloned Cats Glow in the Dark

    Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Lol cats have nothing on these cloned felines:
South Korean scientists have cloned cats by manipulating a fluorescent protein gene, a procedure which could help develop treatments for human genetic diseases, officials said Wednesday.
In a side-effect, the cloned cats glow in the dark when exposed to ultraviolet beams.
    Sometimes science scares me.

    Friday, November 9th, 2007

To the shock and awe of absolutely no one, the, “Dell Dude” is now waiting tables at Tortilla Flats, while he waits for his band to take off. That seems about as likely as my web site taking off. Live the dream, buddy!

Apple Doesn’t Accept Cash for an iPhone?

    Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Apparently, “this note is not legal tender for all debts public and private” at least as far as Apple is concerned. According to Yahoo news Apple will not accept cash as a form of payment for an iPhone, and will limit purchases to two iPhones per customer, “in a move to stop people from reselling [...]

    Loads of Leopard Love

    Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Sadly, as a small time blogger who makes $0 annually on said blog and (now) podcast, I can’t afford to rush out and buy Leopard day one (no matter how much I may want to). But that won’t stop me from letting you know where you can hear impressions of day one Leopard. Here’s a [...]

    Microsoft Is Doing OK

    Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Micrsoft, despite the Vista backlash, doesn’t seem to be having to hard a time. They even posted the first ever profit on the Xbox division. The original Xbox never actually made money, and while the 360 has been doing well, Halo 3 has been enough to push them over the top into the black:
    The [...]

    Happy Leopard Day!

    Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Mac OS 10.5 Leopard ships today and millions of giddy Apple fans will be getting their hands on it (I wish I were one of them, but I’ll be waiting). The picture above is a little easter egg in the OS from Apple, network Windows PC’s display the BSOD. Nice!

Samsung Finally Unveils Decent Hybrid Player

    Thursday, October 25th, 2007

The LG Hybrid HD-DVD/Blue-ray player doesn’t truly support the HD-DVD format, sure it plays the movies, but not the special features, the one thing that sets HD-DVD apart from Blue-ray. Samsung’s upcoming BD-UP5000, will be the first play to support all HD-DVD functionality and also the soon to be released BD 1.1, the update that [...]
