Cardinals win NLCS
In a fantastic end to a well played NLCS (aren’t they always) the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the New York Mets by a score of 3-1. Jeff Suppan pitched yet another fantastic game and won the NLCS MVP, Yadier Molina shocked me with the game winning home run while Pujols still didn’t do much. I’m impressed the Cardinals made it to the World Series and it’s not because of Pujols.
The whole team played their best baseball of the year (except maybe Rolen, no errors in his 25 game playoff history then two in two nights, weird). I’m sure no one thinks they have a shot, but no one thought they could beat the Mets either.
I love the NLCS. I love the National League style of play so much more then the American and the NLCS is the pinnacle of well played baseball. Whoever wins, it’s always entertaining. Sure I’m looking forward to the World Series, but I’m sure not looking forward to the games in Detroit and the no-strategy style of American League ball.
The Cardinals have to win the Series, I can’t go through 2004 again. I didn’t think they had a shot honestly at this years Series, but now that they are there they just can’t lose again. I’m sick of the AL winning (just as sick as I was of the Yankees always winning) and if the Cardinals can break that streak, nothing would make me happier.
